I believe I have searched every key word known to man trying to find the history of these things. I do know they are close relatives of the dry racks and the bottle racks in an "X" movable shape like this. If you know, please let us all know in the comments section below!
I can, however, talk about different ways to style them. There are so many ways that it would take me all day but I do have several ways I want to share here with you.
Do you have any vintage linens or crochet/knitting pieces you would love to show off? This kind of expandable rack is perfect for that.
Here I have a combination of both. The crochet linens I sell in my shop but also the treasured pieces from friends and found pieces from antique stores.
Are you a plant lover? What about hanging your succulents or small plants here. Just use jute rope and tie a loop to hang. Here, I have faux plants because I cannot keep a plant alive to save my life 🤣 ...I keeping in baskets that have little leather straps.
Seasonal decor. It's approaching Easter here and entering into the Spring season so why not use your holiday decor to style these vintage accordian racks? I have some faux nests I purchased at a hobby craft store and placed some faux eggs and some handmade carrots a friend made me in these baskets. Look around your home and see little pots and things you may have to use for display. Just tie a jute cord around the rim and voila!
I happen to like all the above, so here I am using a little of everything since I cannot decide. This way, I can keep it up till Fall.
