DIY Essential oil cabinet

I've had this drawer for over a year now. It was one of those things you buy just to buy it because it was a good deal at an antique shop. It ended up being to big or too dark for certain areas of my home then I got this brilliant idea. Why not turn it into an essential oil cabinet....after all, I got oils for Mother's day and needed a place for them. So I thought I could turn this drawer vertical and add a door. My idea turned out great! Here is how we did it....
First, I went to Lowe's and got some drawer liner. It didnt have a sticky back so I glued it down and took some dark antiquing wax. Any antiquing wax will do, then wipe off a lot of it with a barely damp paper towel.
Next, we took some old wood we had around to add shelves. Hubby left areas where I could have a place to put large bottles.
After that, it was time to stain a door made from a piece of wood that we cut that was the size of the outside perimeter of the door, adding 3 hinges. Any hinges will do.
The front of the door and drawer were painted an antique white then sanded here and there to distress it. We added a crystal knob to give it a french country look and an antique brass drawer element we put on the top to give it interest. You can also use a wood scroll architecture piece here.
Here is where we hung it. We just screwed it to the wall from the inside making sure the screws hit studs. We love it! Now to buy some good oils...
Oh, one last thing.. this was a project my husband and I did together. It took the last bit of paint we had but look at the heart the paint can left us...We thought that was pretty cool! πŸ–€πŸ‘‡

Baby picnic

It's a beautiful day in our neighborhood🎢 lalala... today was baby Jack and my picnic day! It all started with me wanting to make our back patio a wee bit better than what it was. I figure I will get more sunshine if it's a place I actually want to be. So, I started doing something about it yesterday.
Now that I had this sweet little oasis for us to enjoy I remembered baby Jack always wanting to go outside so I came up with a plan....a baby picnic.
First thing he did was dump all the baby cereal out onto the rug. Shag rug mind you. Mix shag rug, wet hands, sugar baby cereal and water and then, add to it this...
We made a mess and we loved every minute of it! I will cherish these days, my back wont because I'm old, but I will!
Now, this got me to thinking of all the lovely things yo have fun with your toddler in a small space.... I gathered up dome great Amazon things....

The sweetest day

I had the sweetest Mothers day. Started off with church services online because of the virus scare, then a long outing looking at beautiful historic old homes.
Came home to a nap then my sweet grown children brought me gifts, cards and love. In the picture below you will see a blanket throw from Amazon that I absolutely love! At first, I wanted a white or cream but this light gray caught my attention because it looks more light sage and looks fantastic with my rug and decor. My daughter bought me this from my Amazon wishlist and surprised me big time. Now I cant stop cuddling with it while I anxiously await the arrival of her first child due any day now πŸ₯°

Bathroom Refresh

Today I did something that I have been wanting to do for awhile. I refreshed our guest bathroom.  I knew it needed some new paintings so I painted some myself. I got 2 Dollar Tree frames, took out the glass, crinkled up the cardboard backing and the cardboard backing is what I painted on. I painted it black then distressed them. Painted muted tones of flowers and sanded those to give it a cohesive look. Pictures below and how I used them in our guest bathroom.

Repurposing a small space

In times like this, we are all on stricter budgets. We currently have a 3 bedroom home. One room is my husband's office, we have our Master bedroom and the 3rd room is used for a nursery because my grandloves visit a lot and the mammas need an area for the littles. So, where does that leave me a place for crafting, painting, blogging (which I need to get better about), journaling, etc? I have to make due with a small area that I have....So....This desk is my vanity where I put on my makeup, fix my hair, all of that. However, I don't fix my hair and put on makeup all day long so why not a quick transformation of this space into a little office area for me?! 🀯 I just want to know why I didnt think of this before. Oh, and see the plant? I'm trying hard to become a plant lady πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ yes, I heard that laugh! These are just clippings from a wild bush outside that we keep trying to kill off because we need that area to do something else. I think I just found a use for it. 😏

Wooden Riser DIY

I have been wanting some risers for awhile now. Everyplace I swear them they are out of my budget. I am always trying to stretch the dollar and do things myself. When I went into the garage, Don snatched this project from me quick! He has been wanting to do some wood working for awhile so...we put our heads together and came up with some super cute risers to share with yall! I took pictures of the process below.
1. Decide the size you want by measuring the area you want it to be. You will also need 2 small pieces for the feet. We made our feet out of a 2x4 and cut it in half to a 2x2. Then take a hammer, a heavy chain, whatever you have and distress it. A great way to get out your aggressions. 😏🀣
2. Stain each piece separately. Wipe quickly and repeat process until you get the desired look you want.
3. Measure in about an inch from the end of where you want the feet. We made the feet slightly shorter in width as well.
4. Nail the feet in place.
5. Decide where you want more stain and add until you like the look. We sanded off some stain in random places.
6. Let stain dry for at least 4 hours. We put ours out in the sun. Then, style as you like! My hubby surprised me with another one he made late last night. He had some random furniture legs he made for the feet this time. 😍
I have so many uses for these. Arent they cute?!

Changing up restock times

I have friends all over this wonderful planet! Some have told me that when I do a restock to my Etsy shop at noon my time, they have to set their alarms because it's the middle of the night for them. 😳 Can't have that happen! So I moved it to 3pm my time to make it easier for most. This week I have 3 bunny banners and 2 boho rainbow bookmarks.

What makes you love being home? Is it the decor? The comfort of relaxing in anything you want?
I personally love my home being super clean but the pillows and blankets thrown on the sofa to cuddle up on and take a good nap. I sleep straight up in my recliner without reclining if I have fluffy pillows and blankets.  If I had a choice to go to a movie or a movie night at home, I will pick a movie night at home any day! Except I really do love movie popcorn πŸ€”
This window in front of windows I got for Christmas from Don. The pillow on the chair on the right was a "just because" gift from Don and that came from Walmart. Do you get "just because" gifts too?

I have a new secret sister at church. On the sheet I received about her, I found out that she loves daisies. I know what kind of candy and drinks she likes so I have a pretty good idea of what I can gift her from time to time. She didnt fill out a lot of the sheet so I have to guess a lot. πŸ˜‚ I decided to make her a bookmark for her Bible. Who wouldnt want a handmade bookmark 🀷‍♀️ On Instagram, I showed how to stitch paint. Its detailed embroidery that looks like a painting when finished.

Want to know more about stitch painting? There are YouTube videos all about it!

I have been trying more chalk art lately. It's the "scratching your fingernails on the chalkboard" thing for me though 😳
This chalkboard is something I made from a mirror I found at a thrift store. Painted the frame with white chalk paint and the mirror with black chalk paint. That simple, no magic about it.
Also on Instagram, I shared my simple tablescape decor for Valentine's day.
The candlesticks are made from a staircase spindle that's been painted white, chipped and cut in half. Tea lights rest on top. The vase is a small 1 gallon crock on top of a crock bowl turned upside down.  The farmhouse table is handmade and bought from a friend. Chairs are from Target. Wall art from Mexico, stained glass windows from an antique dealer.
